Japanese Inro

Japanese traditional garb did not have pockets so the Inro, a set of stacked boxes was used to carry small items such as seals and medicines. Small beads, Ojime secure the box closed, a toggle, the Netsuke, is tucked into the sash round the waist, the Obe. From the left, She-oak, Walnut and Bubinga with Boxwood Netsuke and Ojime.
